This weekend was a busy weekend at our sister company FireByWire with further testing of our long-range radio link. Situated near mobile phone masts and broadcasting antennas. We set up and fired igniters situated in Dover from a location just short of 36km in France.

Distance testing is done not because we expect people to want to fire at 36km, but by knowing huge distances are possible, it gives you assurance when working at shorter distances.

We have made a short video of the journey which you can watch here – FBW radio test – UK to France

In 2017, MLE Pyrotechnics collaborated with Hunan Dream fireworks of China to provide a breathtaking 10-minute pyromusical showcase in Omagari, Japan, at the International Symposium on Fireworks.

The display was set up across hundreds of meters and including all types of fireworks from Single Shots through to Roman Candles and aerial shells up to 8 inches in diameter.

” The International Symposium on Fireworks is the world’s premier international gathering of the pyrotechnic industry. Each Symposium focuses on bringing together individuals of diverse pyrotechnic background, to provide a fertile atmosphere in which to see the newest technology, to trade experience and ideas on ways to enhance the industry and to move the science forward. The emphasis of the Symposia is on the presentation of papers and the discussion of topics dealing with the safety, scientific, engineering, artistic, and regulatory aspects of fireworks and other pyrotechnics associated with entertainment and celebration on a global basis. ”

We are pleased to have represented the UK at the 2018 Liuyang International Fireworks Exhibition in China – home town of fireworks.

In October 2018, MLE Pyrotechnics became the first company from the UK to design and fire a display in Liuyang, China.

The display, designed by company director – Mat Lawrence.  Was fired from 21 firing positions spread over half a kilometre and contained over 4000 ignitions.

Four pyrotechnicians from MLE were sent to China to oversee the rigging of the display which included 360 degree wheels elevated into the sky to heights of over 30 meters.

The event included an opening display by Fireshow of China. Alongside MLE, 3 other companies from Italy, Sweden and Portugal competed for the top prize and we were treated to a closing display by Chinese company, Intently fireworks.

Each team were asked to provide a 10 minute pyromusical display in front of a panel of judges who awarded points to each team based on specific judging criteria.

MLE Pyrotechnics went on to be awarded 3rd place and would like to congratulate Parente Fireworks of Italy and Goteborg fireworks of Sweden for taking 1st and 2nd place respectively.
